The Danish way of life – from The Ugly Duckling to New Nordic Food

A stroll through Copenhagen, where we hear stories from the ‘Golden Age’, a time when people like Hans Christian Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard and Niels W. Gade inhabited the city.
Starting at the Old University, we’ll explore places like the Latin Quarter, Vartov by the City Hall, Nyhavn – the old port with its cosy atmosphere and beautiful old houses and Christiansborg – the Parliament or Borgen (the TV drama).
In Søren Kierkegaard’s footpath, we’ll hear, see and taste our way through today’s Copenhagen – city of bicycles, hygge, Borgen, The New Nordic Kitchen, and the genuine Danish pastry, imitated elsewhere, but never copied!
We’ll visit a bakery and taste a Danish, and for those who wish, we will finish with a luncheon with the famous Danish smørrebrød (not included in price).
For those interested we can hire bikes after lunch and make a bike trip around the harbour of Copenhagen.

On this City Walking Tour you are going to see a part of Frederiksstaden which is a district in Copenhagen constructed in the second half of the 18th century during the reign of Frederik V.
Here you find Frederiks Kirke/the Marble Church and then Amalienborg Palace which is the home of the Danish Royal Family.

From Christianshavn you are going by harbour bus to Kastellet – the Citadel – which is one of the best preserved star fortresses in Northern Europa. Nearby you will find The Little Mermaid, so those who haven´t seen this sculpture yet will have the opportunity.
